For over thirty years, The Well has been serving the people of Malvern as a place where everyone is welcome. Founded by a partnership of local churches, we have grown into a vibrant community hub where people of all backgrounds can find friendship, practical support, opportunities to contribute and space to flourish.
Whether people visit for coffee, counselling, a community group, volunteering or simply a friendly face, our hope is that everyone experiences genuine welcome, discovers a sense of belonging, and leaves encouraged.
The Well is an independent Christian charity, supported by churches from across Malvern and the surrounding area. Our name comes from the story of Jesus meeting the Samaritan woman at the well (John 4), where he offers living water that satisfies our deepest thirst and brings new life. We believe that invitation remains open today and we seek to follow Jesus’ example of generous welcome, compassionate service and hope for every person.
Our faith gives us our identity, inspires our work and shapes our vision for the community we serve – but all are welcome to serve or be served here.
This vision of fullness of life lies at the heart of everything we do. As a Christian charity, our first calling is to share the good news of Jesus Christ in both word and action. We seek to reflect God’s love through generous hospitality, compassionate service and faithful witness, creating places where people can experience welcome, hope and opportunities to explore the Christian faith.
At the heart of this witness, we work to strengthen the wellbeing of our community. Today, as thirty years ago, this often means supporting people through the pressures of the cost of living, the growing impact of poor mental health and social isolation, and creating opportunities for both young and old to belong, contribute and flourish together.
The Well was established by churches in Malvern as a shared expression of Christian service to our community. More than thirty years later, that partnership remains at the heart of who we are. We believe we can achieve more together than apart, and we continue to work alongside churches, volunteers, charities and public services to seek the good of our town.
We believe that healthy communities grow when people are not simply served, but invited to participate. If you would like to become part of that story – whether by volunteering, partnering with us, supporting our work or simply calling in for a coffee – we would love to welcome you.
