The Lyttelton Well & Its Volunteers

You - the volunteer

Our 100 - 150 volunteers enjoy their work at the Well. They are part of a successful team and know they are doing useful work in our community - think how you could join us. Men and women are equally welcome. You might like the idea of working for a few hours at the same time every week in a particular area. Sometimes you won't be able to make "your shift", but don't worry, other volunteers will be called in to fill a gap when the need arises. If you do not feel able to commit to a regular shift but would still like to help, you can become one of our flexible fillers-in.

Without more volunteers, the Well cannot fulfil its mission. So please get in touch with our Volunteer Coordinator ROY and explore how you can help us to help others in and around Malvern.

Call 01684 573702 now and ask for Roy.

The Cafe

We have three paid part-time cooks. From Monday to Friday volunteers do the washing up, food preparation, waiting & waitressing - a lot of volunteers are needed to keep it all running smoothly. Students from local schools work on Saturdays.

During the summer holidays we also use university students who help cover the gaps that inevitably occur. The volunteers who work at the Coffee House are very much responsible for its friendly atmosphere: for our many regular customers they are familiar and friendly faces.

If you have any spare time and would like to be part of a cheerful and successful team we would be delighted to offer you a taster session so you can see if this is something you would like to do.

The Christian Bookshop

Most of those who work in the Bookshop are volunteers. We are now taking steps to improve our ecumenical range to include books of interest to all denominations. We can also obtain books wanted by customers very quickly. We would welcome more help.

Counselling

The Counselling Service has 17 counsellors. Here too we have a need for volunteers to act as receptionists during the day and as chaperones for evening counselling.

Our counselling suite has a reception area and two dedicated counselling rooms to ensure confidentialty and privacy. The Well counsellors come from a variety of Christian denominations, they are all fully trained and qualified volunteers, and there is ongoing training to enable them to keep up to date. The service is open to all, regardless of their belief or ability to pay.

Resource Centre

As part of the Lyttelton Well outreach we have a small library of Christian resources including books, tapes, videos, CDs and DVDs. These are available on free loan or for a small donation.
